CHALLENGES FOR OUR GENERATION: INTERNATIONAL POVERTY AND REFUGEES

Muslims Without Borders (MWB) in collaboration with Global Poverty Project (GPP) are running a one-day seminar targeting the youth of Sydney on Saturday 19^th January 2013. We are very passionate about empowering youth especially in the Western suburbs of Sydney and believe there is much 'untapped potential'. Many youth do not have the knowledge surrounding international development, poverty and refugee issues to actively participate, but wish to 'make a difference'.

A world renowned poet, Boona Mohammed, Shaykh Navaid Aziz and internet spoken word sensation Kamal Saleh and Quranic recitors will be performing at the Grand Westella (12 Bridge st Lidcombe, NSW) from 7:00pm -10:30pm on the 15th of Jan 2013.

Staff of Moses Humanitarian Aid is a Muslim-run aid organization focusing on long-term, self-sustaining projects primarily in the Middle East and South-East Asia as well as aiming to preserve and foster the Islamic Faith prevailing in the region. Presently, Staff of Moses is gearing to embark on a series of profound aid projects in Indonesia that it hopes will both stifle the rampant poverty in some of its more destitute and neglected areas as well as ensure the people’s Islam is protected from Buddhist and Pagan influences on the one hand and creeping Western and Atheistic approaches on the other.

Staff of Moses Humanitarian Aid aims, like most other aid organisations, to provide support for orphans, poor, sick, old, impotent and needy, but investing in only long term projects, that are self-sustaining and that are planned and run with much consultation with the indigenous populations, so that their concerns are adequately addressed. It is an unfortunate reality that many Muslims in these parts, lack even basic requirements of life, such as food, water, shelter, adequate clothing, medical care, education, guidance and even a place to be buried or an imam to perform burial services, not to mention even owning a Qur'an, yet alone a teacher to help them read it.
